    Title: Snapshots from the retreat

God is good!! =) I really want to thank God for this retreat for it was such a wonderful and blessed time with one another in this big family! I believed God had planned this retreat to be so divine for us in this year of Sabbath for we had so much rest in Him, dwelling in intimacy with our Father and we had so much fun just sharing our walk and edifying one another as a spiritual family through the time spent together. Like what Pastor Khong has mentioned at the start of this year, this year of Sabbath is a time to remember and rely upon the Lord, delighting in intimacy with Him and it is also a time to restore and rebuild relationships in this family, demonstrating inter-dependence among us, and I believed all these were just so evident in this retreat itself. Even though there wasn’t much activities planned for us, God has led us to fellowship with one another deeper as a family during our cell group time and during the sharing session we had with our leaders and Pastor Roland himself. And God too, has drawn us deeper into His presence and into His dwelling place in our 1 hour of praying and crying out to Him! And I definitely have to agree with Pastor Roland who has shared that the quantity and quality of the fruit we bear has a direct co-relation to our degree of growing in intimacy with Christ! And not to forget all the wonderful sessions that God has used to speak to us. ABIDE in Jesus Christ and Marching as ONE Army! =) Thank you Lord!!

In this retreat, God used people to speak to me. I felt very assuring and it helped me take a closer step to God. I not only drew closer to God, but also the family of God. God is good and I have been very blessed throughout the whole camp. I thank God for his unfailing love and the spiritual family that he has placed me in.

    ——————————————————————————————

I went to the camp with lots of stuff in my mind. Through experience, whenever there is lots of stuff in my mind, I know the Lord is going to speak.

Neither storm nor earth-shakings were experienced as our dear pastors brought us through their teachings (screams maybe as we were in our rooms and showers. Lizards, droppings of all kinds, the super cold water etc…).

As I sat through their teachings and sharing, I realized they were sharing their real life experiences with us (Pastor’s standard is very high. He still carried on his G12 meeting on Wednesday despite his dad’s condition).

Battle is real and persecution we will face. What is our response to them? Our response to the battle and persecution is critical. Taking Pastor’s dad as an example. Our natural response should be to postpone the G12 meeting or let the 12 run the meeting. Yet, Pastor chose to lead the meeting and ask the group to pray (Wow, pastor. You are really one kind).

The result… Our Faith is strengthened.

The situation looked more like a threat from the evil one. I am not suggesting that we should leave our earthly responsibilities or carrying out our responsibilities blindly (Pastor’s dad situation and carrying out the G12 meeting are our earthly responsibilities).

Our response should be one with our Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Recognizing the flaming arrows and respond appropriately. (This kind of response is not easy to acquire. It may take me a lifetime to learn). My heart has been convicted a number of times by the truth through the teachings.

The more we want to advance His Kingdom, the evil one will also do more to stop us. With the desire to please Him with the works of our hands, we will face persecution of all kinds. Others may see us as crazy, weirdoes or even as illogical; the convicting truth that grips our hearts shall propel us to stand firm.

It is no easy feat. Yet His love shall be our assurance. Nothing physical has changed. =) My heart has. How about yours?

    Title: Snapshots from the dinner

As majority of the crowd strolls into the restaurant at 7.30pm, one is easily reminded of a typical wedding dinner setup – except there was no elegant bride and dashing bridegroom in sight. Or maybe just perhaps, it was the wedding banquet of Christ and the church.

Tables were slowly filled up by people of a common struggle. Indeed, Christ could have also hung on the cross to fight off hung-er. Since God is faithful and will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, we were shown grace in the form of peanuts. We also learnt that we should not find relieve in temporary things, but know that God is our all sufficiency and we will find rest in him. With everyone gathered in unison to sing praises and invite God into the midst of us and enjoying the table that is laid before us the entire dinner kick-start with a spirit of anticipation and enjoyment with representatives from ROLLED-72 bringing in dishes in true blue banquet style.

There were exchanges of introductions and activities that took place throughout the evening with witty hosts of Adrian and Shi Jun. The highlight of the blessing draw was overshadowed by an unexpected event. The challenge for every table to decorate a dish with scraps from a sumptuous 8 course meal turned out to be a popular one. With each finalist coming up onto the stage to do a presentation on their theological findings in their partially consumed prawn and chicken heads, the deserving winning dish was one whose presenter intoxicated everyone by her presentation. The entire event was a meal, wedding banquet, theology lesson and whacky games all ROLLED into one. We could all agree that indeed, this was family time.

Truly, the greatest blessing we have in life is knowing God. As a family, let us all continue to grow, and have a restful and blessed year ahead!

    Dear All,

As you well know, we are getting closer to My birthday. Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year the celebration will be repeated. During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many Radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world everyone is talking that My birthday is getting closer and closer. It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people think of Me.

As you know, the celebration of My birthday began many years ago. At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for the celebration. Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don’t know the meaning of the celebration. I remember that last year there was a great feast in My honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates. The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully wrapped gifts. However, do you want to know something? I was not invited. I was the guest of honor and they didn’t remember to send me an invitation. The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my face .. and I wanted to be with them and share their table. In truth, that didn’t surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me. Since I wasn’t invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner.

They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a grand time. To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying: “Santa Claus, Santa Claus” as if the party were in his honor! At midnight all the people began to hug each other; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug Me and do you know no-one hugged Me. Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for Me. What would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one?

I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left. Every year it gets worse. People only remember the gifts, the parties, to eat and drink, and nobody remembers Me. I would like this Christmas that you allow Me to enter into your life. I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago I came to this world to give My life for you, on the cross, to save you.Today, I only want that you believe this with all your heart. I want to share something with you. As many didn’t invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party. I’m still making the final arrangements. Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great guest book.

Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party. Those who don’t answer the invite, will be left outside. Be prepared because when all is ready you will be PART of MY GREAT PARTY.

See you soon. I Love you!

    Jesus

9th December 2007 was the day; the ROLLED cluster witnessed the baby dedication of baby Reuel. It was not intentionally planned for but the Lord has His timing as this day marked baby Reuel’s 40th day, which is a significant day in the bible. It always signifies the birth of a new thing – TRANSFORMATION.

The baby dedication started off with Pastor Eugene leading the ROLLED cluster to testify God’s goodness with the song, “God is so good”. This was followed by the testimonies of Pastor Roland and Pastor Lai Fun as they testify God’s grace and hands of protection upon baby Reuel. Despite a threatened miscarriage, they continued to claim Psalm 139 over baby Reuel. God came true for them and baby Reuel was delivered on the 30th October 2007 victoriously.

As the ROLLED cluster witnessed in anticipation, Pastor Roland and Pastor Lai Fun dedicated baby Reuel to the LORD, confessing with their mouths that baby Reuel will grow to be a God-fearing man, used by the LORD to bring transformation to the people around him, the community, Singapore and even the nations beyond.

With baby Reuel dedicated to the LORD, Pastor Julie went on to share with the ROLLED cluster the significance behind baby’s name as Reuel (Friend of God). Pastor Julie echoes the heartbeat of Pastor Roland and Pastor Lai Fun over baby Reuel as she shared that a friend of God simply means to have the FAITH like Abraham, the FEAR of the LORD and the FELLOWSHIP with the LORD.

With this, Pastor Eugene and Pastor Julie led the ROLLED cluster to prayer for Pastor Roland, Pastor Lai Fun and baby Reuel declaring that baby Reuel will grow up to be a friend of God who is always thankful, always victorious and always a blessing.

Indeed, this is not the concern of only Pastor Roland and Pastor Lai Fun. This is the concern of the ROLLED cluster. After all, it takes a whole tribe to raise a child.
