“We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. ” — 1 Thessalonians 1:3

During the RL 288 Meeting, Ps Rol asked wat is work when he shared on the above verse?

in physics terms,

work = F x d

Then God spoke.

Work = Faith x distance
(where F is Faith and d is the distance from our comfort zone. )The amount of work i.e. how many seeds of blessings we are going to sow in this 100k challenge depends on how big our faith is in God (not just believing in God but to believe God for the people He is going to place along our path) and how far we are willing to move away from our comfort zone to bless others.

then i was thinking, “God you gave me equation for work, what about labor?”

He gave the word “joules”

Definition of joules: The joule is the SI unit of work or energy.
(that means indirectly it meant labor)

labor = power/time

therefore,

Labor = God’s power of love/ time

(where power = God’s love and time = amount of time we are willing to spend)

The amount we are going to labor depends on how much time we are willing to spend, to sacrifice, to go the extra mile to share God’s love with the people, to share His blessings with people)

“ah-ha, now there’s faith, love; there muz be hope coming in.. “

The word “endurance” in the verse caught my attention; followed by “power”, “energy” and “sustain”.
endurance = power

Given that power = Voltage X Current ,

where Voltage refers to the electric potential; and

in simplified terms, to have positive power, you need to have a closed circuit i.e. that is when current is flowing.

Similarly, (where voltage = the maximum potential in completing the race and Current = the hope we have in Christ Jesus to run and complete the race)

How much we can endure (i.e. the power) depends on whom we place our hope in i.e. our Lord Jesus Christ. and its only when we place our hope in Christ will we have the energy to sustain our run and to complete our race.

As we move out for the 100K challenge, let us look beyond our own struggles, beyond our own needs and capacity but to trust God and go in love, act by faith and perservere wif the hope in Christ. To be a mighty warrior of Christ! =)

I really like the post “Heart of the Matter” written by Sebastian and passage he has taken from C.S Lewis’s The Four Loves cos it hits me where it used to hurt most.

It all started from something minor, like lending my personal belongings and money to my friends. My heart kinda hurt when I had to lend them my stuff cos I valued them. Gradually I learnt that I shouldn’t value or love these material goods so I wouldn’t feel that my heart hurt when I had to part with them. Good, you would say. But when I grew older, my heart got hurt in other ways; it started to get broken by the people close to me. People whom I loved most hurt me the most. People whom I placed my highest expectation in disappointed me the most. Then I started to apply my theory of “Value Less, Hurt Less” to the people around me. My heart never got broken again. It cracked sometimes but it never got totally broken into pieces. Though my heart was whole most of the time, it was loveless.

That was me before I knew God. I wouldn’t say that after I know God, my heart is never broken again and I live happily after. The fact is my heart got broken a thousand times more than ever before but after understanding how wide and long and high and deep the love that Christ has for us, I am blessed with the courage to love and my fear of having my heart broken disappeared. But you may ask what if one day your heart gets shattered beyond what you can bear? Fix your eyes on Jesus and you will know all is worth it.

 Look into the word “heart” in the picture to see the name “Jesus”.
Fear not cos Jesus is in your heart =)

Over the pulpit we hear this phrase all too often, “At the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart”. True? Recently i came across a blog that nicely put things into perspective for me:

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness.
But in that casket–safe, dark, motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. . . The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers of love is Hell.”
- C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

This resonates so well within me as God leads me into a season of loving the people around me. Family, friends, colleagues, cell members, the special ones, the unloved ones… all the same. As much as it would hurt sometimes, I’ld rather that my heart be wrung and be broken than it become unbreakable, impenetrable and irredeemable.

We can love b’cos He first loved us. He knew the cost of love, that’s why He chose unconditional love.

God, teach me to love just the way you do.

How is your heart today?
