Objective: RL288

Date: 15 Nov 06

Location: TC 3rd Floor

RL288 is always a great time of getting together as a family, a family brought together by God. There is always a immense feeling of thanksgiving of this family that God has placed before us, Pastor Roland and Lai Fun, our leaders and mine Danny Loke. Jia Shen brought us into a time of worship, reminding us that God waits for us as we wait upon Him.

Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus Conquered the grave

Indeed Jesus has conquered the grave, giving us victory in all circumstances and situations. Lets have faith to believe that we can conquer anything through Him. Lets enter 2007 with a warring spirit and with victory! More on that later.

Pastor Roland then opened the floor for testimonies and thanksgiving, personally this is the highlight of the evening. Hearing how God is blessing and working in the lives of other people often builds up faith in me to know all things are possible. Lets take time to reflect on those who shared, Suang gave us all the truth that no one should look down on your youth.

1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Being only a 2yr old Christian with 10 gals under her really shows something, we must press on in praying and reaching out to family members/friends/colleagues etc etc. Magic of Love @ Christmas 2006 is coming up, have you got your tickets? Leslie gave thanks for his parents salvation on 9th September, 1 thing that struck to me was perseverance. Perseverance to pray at every meal for his parent’s salvation, many a times we’re sluggish in our prayer and hope. Pray… pray like never before. Up next was Kenny, sharing his journey with Pastor Lawrence Khong and team in Shen Yang in projects like ‘qian qian shou’. We must continue to uphold our Pastor in prayer as he prepares for MOL @ X’mas. Joanna had slight difficulty in sharing, but God had no difficulty in healing her of pains in her abdomen. Jehovah Rapha, God is our healer. Praise God!

Next up was Shi Jun, who was thankful for finances (700 bucks), work and the retreat @ Muar. God spoke to him, saying that he is approved by God and I believe that we all are. We don’t have to seek approval from other sources because we’re approved! Do I hear a resounding Amen to that? Last was Jia Shen who first shared on his colleague / mentor, the phrase “cannot be I build my house then I don’t build God’s house” was something very admirable. His colleague is willing to part with whatever earnings he achieves on Sunday solely for His kingdom, *clap clap*. This brought him to his journey in buying a guitar, not just as a material possession but as an instrument of worship. How can we serve God? Your skills your talents, how can well all contribute in building His kingdom. Danny has shared before that it doesn’t matter where we serve, just serve. Then we can begin to know if that is God’s calling for us or not, we can all serve in so many ways.

Pastor Roland then proceeded to sharing a recap of the Youth Net 144 & leader’s meeting on 1st Nov.

  1. Go deep in Christ
  2. Look far in vision
  3. Ask big in faith

To enter 2007 depends alot on the individual, lets conscientiously enter 2007 as a Year of Victory. Enter the year always thankful, always victorious and always a blessing to all.

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

The RL 24 Retreat @ Praise Haven was a fruitful and an enjoyable time as the brothers and sisters with our spiritual father – Pastor Roland and spiritual mother – Pastor Lai Fun gathered together to fellowship and seek God together…

Being my very first retreat with the family, I was really excited and looking forward to getting to know the rest of the family better… Indeed, this retreat had been one such memorable experience for me as the Lord continues to teach me on what it means to live in unity as a family…

For Philippians 2:1-4 said “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, out in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Today Young Preachers’ Contest ended on a high note, not just because the winner delivers a fantastic message alone but a huge step in nurturing the next generation preachers. I like to thank our leaders for coming up with this initiative, giving the youths a voice and platform to live it out loud for Jesus. It might be small but made a great impact by stepping out in boldness to preach the word of God like reaching for votes in an election.

Since being booted out after the 1st round, I have indeed learnt much. Watching my previous round video and listing out the mistakes, it’s humbling and a self discovery of my stage performance. Well, all these preaching techniques can be mastered and executed without feelings and of the flesh.

However, the focus is clear and it convicted my heart that I will preach to win souls, not contests. The love for His people must be the only passion for preaching God’s love. In fact, if we examined this whole contest with our eyes, there is only 1 winner and the rest are so called losers.

Wait a minute, close your eyes again and think Jesus…..Ah…ha now you understand. All participants are winners in Jesus’ eyes. Because they are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Neither mine, nor your gospel. I want to encourage all you participants out there, well done and mission accomplished.

Train and equip yourself for the next round is coming. Watch out, here comes the new waves of young preachers.

I wonder if someone will become a preacher someday and really share a testimony of that small startup of the 1st Young Preachers’ Contest and see God’s hand in this whole process.

Faithfulness is your Name, Lord! Hallelujah!!!
