As majority of the crowd strolls into the restaurant at 7.30pm, one is easily reminded of a typical wedding dinner setup – except there was no elegant bride and dashing bridegroom in sight. Or maybe just perhaps, it was the wedding banquet of Christ and the church.

Tables were slowly filled up by people of a common struggle. Indeed, Christ could have also hung on the cross to fight off hung-er. Since God is faithful and will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, we were shown grace in the form of peanuts. We also learnt that we should not find relieve in temporary things, but know that God is our all sufficiency and we will find rest in him. With everyone gathered in unison to sing praises and invite God into the midst of us and enjoying the table that is laid before us the entire dinner kick-start with a spirit of anticipation and enjoyment with representatives from ROLLED-72 bringing in dishes in true blue banquet style.

There were exchanges of introductions and activities that took place throughout the evening with witty hosts of Adrian and Shi Jun. The highlight of the blessing draw was overshadowed by an unexpected event. The challenge for every table to decorate a dish with scraps from a sumptuous 8 course meal turned out to be a popular one. With each finalist coming up onto the stage to do a presentation on their theological findings in their partially consumed prawn and chicken heads, the deserving winning dish was one whose presenter intoxicated everyone by her presentation. The entire event was a meal, wedding banquet, theology lesson and whacky games all ROLLED into one. We could all agree that indeed, this was family time.

Truly, the greatest blessing we have in life is knowing God. As a family, let us all continue to grow, and have a restful and blessed year ahead!
